In the southeast of Hettstedt is a heap of the former König-Friedrich-Schacht. On top of this heap is a monument in memory of the first german steam engine. It consists of a granite-block an two bronze plates on a ground work of granite and variegated sandstone. The steam engine was put into operation in August 1785 and served as drainage of the shaft. The association of german Engineers donated this monument. It`s revealment and inauguration was in August 1890 |
