Apart from the many small and big heaps form the remains of the old mining rail way a memory for the once most important centre of the non-ferrous metallurgy in Germany. The rail way was opened in 1880 as a type of transportation between Hettstedt and the shafts. The track gauge of the tragage was 750 mm. In 1882 the first railway carriages were added for passenger transport. With the works closure ended the official transportation. To the joy of many railway-fans the oldest operable narrow gauge railway "steams" again. The stretch Klostermansfeld - Blockstab - Eduardschacht - Hettstedt is still in operation. |
