"More than the lead in the gun, the lead in the type case changed the world." The print shop was founded in 1889. In the same year the first edition od "Hettstedter Zeitung" was published. It`s print collimated in 1941. The printing house Heise continued as a commercial printing company. In 2001 the association "Alte Hettstedter Druckerei e.V." was brought to life with the aim to recive the printing house for museum purposes. A renovation of the building and the restoration of the old printing machines for demonstration followed. The building as well as the printers equipment are under preservation.
