Die 1889 gegründete Druckerei veröffentlichte im selben Jahr die erste Ausgabe der „Hettstedter Zeitung“.

Deren Druck wurde 1941 eingestellt und es erfolgt eine Weiterführung der Buchdruckerei Heise als Akzidenzdruckerei.

Am 15.02.2001 wurde der Verein „Alte Hettstedter Druckerei Heise e.V.“ ins Leben gerufen mit dem Ziel, die Druckerei für museale Zwecke wieder zu beleben. Darauf folgten eine Sanierung des Druckereigebäudes und die Restaurierung der Maschinen zur Wiederaufstellung und Vorführung an ihren Standplätzen in der Setzerei, Druckerei und Stereotypie.

Sowohl das Gebäude als auch die Druckereiausstattung stehen unter Denkmalschutz. Die Druckerei befindet sich in der Nähe des Marktes, gegenüber vom Busbahnhof.

Der Verein Braukommune Hettstedt e.V. bietet Ihnen nach Voranmeldung ein ganzjähriges Angebot. Lassen Sie sich von einer Führung und einem Vortrag zur Geschichte der Braukommune begeistern. Apart from the many small and big heaps form the remains of the old mining rail way a memory for the once most important centre of the non-ferrous metallurgy in Germany.

The rail way was opened in 1880 as a type of transportation between Hettstedt and the shafts. The track gauge of the tragage was 750 mm. In 1882 the first railway carriages were added for passenger transport. With the works closure ended the official transportation. To the joy of many railway-fans the oldest operable narrow gauge railway "steams" again. The stretch Klostermansfeld - Blockstab - Eduardschacht - Hettstedt is still in operation.

Not far from the marketplace is the only survival of the castle Hettstedt: an about 17 m high and nearly 8 m thick round tower, the keep. The barons of Arnstein built this castele from 1204 till 1224 as protection of the mining. During the 30-year long war , 1618 - 1648, the castle was damaged gravely. Since 1650 the castle ruin was used as a brewery. In 1967/68 the demolition of the castele ruins took place to build the bus station.

The former city fortification was build during 1430 - 1439 and the many towers and gates are still forming the sight of the city centre: the Molmecker gate tower, the Saigertor, the Brücktorturm, the Zuckerhutturm and a tower at the northern side of the gym of the secondary school. Remains oft the city wall can be found in the park. The Saigertor - the landmark of Hettstedt - was converted to a gate tower and was severely damaged during a fire in 1651 and was rebuild in its recent complexion in 1722. The Saigertor is about 33 m tall.

The town hall is the most prominent building surrounding the marketplace. The oldest mentioned town hall was right in the middle of today’s market place. This building burned down in 1506. The reconstruction of the town hall was finished in 1526. The building found it’s place at today’s position. This building was also a victim of the flames (1627). The building was reconstructed in 1667 once again. Further alterations and augments of the town hall took place in 1879 and 1913. Considering the neo-Gothic style at that time, a corner tower and a stair gable were added to the building. On the ground floor an inn was constructed. During the conversion in 1913 the town hall got its recent complexion.

The St. - Jakobi - Church shapes the silhouette of Hettstedt like no other building. The church burned down in 1697 and the reconstruction with the baroque vault started in 1706. The last conversion of the church was in 1905, when a new organ, a new gallery, new windows and a new clock give the building today’s complexion.  The church is 63 m tall.

The monument was revealed in 1950 on the occasion of the 750-years celebration of the Mansfelder mining. The monument was created by the sculptors Richard Horn and Otto Leibe. The pictures symbolise the copper-mining and the smelting in the Mansfelder Land. The side that is turned towards the town hall displays the mine worker Nappian and Neuke, who detected the copper on the Kupferberg around 1200

The Zoo Walback is only about 3 km from town centre. The small zoo is situated in the idyllic former castle park. The board of trustees Tierpark Walbeck e.V. made it it`s job to maintain and upgrade the traditional zoo. Today the zoo accommodates more than 30 animal species, most of all are domestic animals, indigenous quarry, rodents and several birds.

The St.-Gangolf church ist the oldest church in Hettstedt and is situated on the Kupferberg in the east of the Wipper. This is were the copper mining started around 1200. The barons of Arnstein build this chapel at the beginning of the 13.th century for the mine workers. Today the St. - Gangolf church isn’t used ecclesiastically anymore but is used for various events all-season

Das Barockschloss, heutiges Mansfeld-Museum, welches sich im Stadtteil Burgörner-Altdorf befindet, wurde 1721 erbaut und 1740 vom preußischen Regierungspräsidenten Karl-Friedrich von Dacheröden als Rittergut gekauft. Seine Enkelin, Caroline von Dacheröden, heiratete 1791 den späteren preußischen Minister Wilhelm von Humboldt. Das Museum zeigt die Geschichte der Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur des Mansfelder Berg- und Hüttenwesens. Hauptattraktion ist der originalgetreue Nachbau der ersten deutschen Dampfmaschine Wattscher Bauart - die sogenannte Feuermaschine - von 1785. Im Freigelände sind viele große und kleinere Exponate der Bergbau-, Hütten- und Verarbeitungstechnik zu sehen. Als Technisches Museum des Mansfelder Kupferschieferbergbaus und Hüttenwesens stellt das Mansfelder Museum in erster Linie die technische und wirtschaftliche Entwicklung diese einst sehr bedeutenden, über nahezu 800 Jahre das Mansfelder Land prägende Montanreviers dar. Hauptattraktion des Museums ist der originalgetreue Nachbau der ersten deutschen Dampfmaschine Watt´scher Bauart, die hier im Jahr 1785 in Betrieb genommen wurde.

The wooden church was erected in 1452 and burned down in 1517. The reconstrucion took place in the same year but the monastery was destroyed during the peasants uprising. The remains of the mural are still existent in the yard of Freimarkt 12.

Ein herausragendes geologisches Naturdenkmal ist ebenfalls in Hettstedt zu besichtigen: das Tal der Heiligen Reiser. In einem stillgelegten Steinbruch ist die "Saalische Diskordanz" aufgeschlossen. Es sind die Sedimentschichten des Oberkarbons (rötlichbraune Sand- u. Tonsteine, ca. 300 Mio. Jahre alt) und darüber die Sandsteine des höchsten Rotliegend (Eisleben-Formation, ca. 260 Mio. Jahre alt) zu sehen. Die Sedimentablagerungen sind somit nicht kontinuierlich; es fehlen ca. 40 Mio. Jahre. Eine Lücke in der Erdgeschichte. Für geologisch interessierte Besucher eine Besonderheit.
Das Tal der Heiligen Reiser ist Geopunkt 5 der Landmarke 17 - Schloss Mansfeld, in einem flächendeckenden Netz aus Landmarken und Geopunkten des Harzes und seines Vorlandes.

Interessenten erreichen dieses Naturdenkmal  über einen schmalen, beschilderten Pfad, der links hinter der Bahndammunterführung der Talstraße beginnt.
 Die Besucher dieses Geotops bewegen sich auf eigene Gefahr in einem geschützten Naturraum. Sie haben sich entsprechend zu verhalten.

In the southeast of Hettstedt is a heap of the former König-Friedrich-Schacht. On top of this heap is a monument in memory of the first german steam engine.

It consists of a granite-block an two bronze plates on a ground work of granite and variegated sandstone. The steam engine was put into operation in August 1785 and served as drainage of the shaft. The association of german Engineers donated this monument. It`s revealment and inauguration was in August 1890

The eastern city wall is the strongest part of the city fortifications. That’s were the tower is located. It served as a watchtower and because of its cone-shaped head the tower is called "Zuckerhut". Except for this head the tower resembles the Molmeckturm. There was a direct connecting passage from the tower to the Saigertor. The tower was build in 1434. Many people believed that during the middle ages women were confined within the tower, because they were accused to be witches. They were left in the tower to die a miserable death. That’s how the name "Hexenturm" became popular. During the second half of the 18th century a two-storied residential home and a prison were added to the tower. The tower served as a prison till the 1930s

Die Einspeisung sowjetischen Erdgases in das Walzwerk Hettstedt und die Kupfer-Silberhütte Hettstedt führte zur Errichtung des jüngsten Denkmals der Stadt und dessen Einweihung am 3. Oktober 1974. Der Einsatz von Erdgas in den genannten Betrieben der Buntmetallurgie brachte wesentliche technologische Fortschritte sowie Erleichterung der schweren körperlichen Arbeit der Beschäftigten.
Die Stadt konnte durch den Anschluß an die Erdgasleitung auch mit Erdgas versorgt werden. Durch die Verminderung der Schadstoff-Emissionen wurde die Umweltbelastung für die Stadt und ihre Umgebung erheblich verringert.
Seit 1976 findet im Oktober jeden Jahres ein Flammenfest statt. Das im Sockel des Denkmals befindliche Kabinett wird für Ausstellungen der Mansfelder Bergbau- Hütten- und Metallverarbeitungstradition genutzt.
